Carlton le Willows Grammar School Society: Leaves Online
Carlton le Willows Grammar School Society is a private society for former pupils and staff of the school in Gedling, Nottinghamshire, during its Grammar School period (1953-1974). Our site may also be of interest to those researching education in England in the fifties and sixties, in the early years of the 11+ examination system, and in the social consequences of these things. The Society organises reunion events, some for its members and some also open to the wider target group, and it also aims to foster continuing links between old friends and acquaintances and to keep the spirit of the original school alive. As well as this site it publishes a regular magazine, Salix, including memoirs, images and anecdotes provided by members.
Leaves Online and how to use it
The main site uses an HTML mechanism called 'Frames', which allow us to nest web pages inside each other and display different pages alongside each other. In particular it helps us design a very easy navigation system for visitors and helps the site load faster than otherwise. But not all visitors use browsers, and not all browsers use frames. Specialised browsers to make the web accessible to those with various disabilities, for instance, often can't use frames, and most search engines will either not follow a frame-based structure at all or only to a limited depth. This page, therefore, is provided to ensure our site is as accessible as possible - within the limited resources we have available - to everyone.
